Minky Couture started in 2009 when owner, Sandi Hendry’s daughter became very ill and was hospitalized for several months. During this time, Sandi longed for a way to bring comfort to her daughter while in recovery. Her daughter asked for a “big baby blanket” to snuggle up with during this time. Sandi looked everywhere for a fashionable, cozy blanket but was unable to find one perfect for her daughter. It was at this time that Sandi created the first-ever Adult size Minky Couture blanket. This incredibly soft blanket was swooned over by those surrounding her daughter in recovery. Sandi created 2 more, 10 more, 100 more per requests – giving them to those in need and selling them out of her trunk to people longing for luxurious comfort.
By 2015 there were five Minky Couture locations across the state of Utah and a thriving online store, all prepared to provide a product that is perfect for every reason in any season. As Minky Couture continues to grow and develop our brand of comfort and luxury, we strive to find opportunities to provide for those who struggle both physically and emotionally. We believe that comfort and luxury in the form of a warm blanket is both concretely warming while also metaphorically comforting.
Our Mission
Minky Couture has affected the lives of a countless number of people throughout the state of Utah and beyond. Many local mothers have been given the opportunity to work as seamstresses from their own homes. This allows them to provide for their families while mastering their professional skills. Minky Couture has created a flexible and family friendly environment that is felt throughout the entire company. This has perpetuated the strength in our belief that women working together locally to provide luxury and comfort to one another is more than manufacturing a product – it is a way of achieving community.
Each blanket begins with the highest quality of fabric that maintains its plush soft feel for many years. This fabric isn’t something that you can find at your local fabric store. This fabric is hand-picked and purchased through wholesale distributors ensuring a top-of-the-line thread count. We have maximized the GSM (grams per square meter) in our plush fabrics for the highest quality possible. We are continually improving the thickness and richness of their fabrics. The extensive pattern selections allow for each person to design their own customized blanket – giving a sense of collaboration and engagement. Minky Couture is a personal partner in bringing and designing luxury and allowing customers the customized gift-giving ability. It isn’t about shopping for a blanket; it is about creating a gift that is a personalized luxury.

Sandi believes in surrounding herself with loyal, honest, creative and dedicated employees to accomplish her mission to “Blanket the World in Minky Couture” luxury. This along with giving back to the community are key to Minky’s success. Minky Couture donates thousands of blankets to charities, hospitals, and fundraisers.
